The area around Bowscale Fell contains a scattering of small villages and hamlets, such as Hesket Newmarket and Mungrisedale. There are also a number of small lakes and tarns in the area. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including red deer, foxes and hares.
There are many interesting geological features in the area, such as limestone pavements, natural rock arches and limestone bluffs. The summit of Bowscale Fell offers great views of the surrounding fells, including Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Blencathra.
